Fiberglass tank trim and popping the plug.

                Cutoff wheel on a grinder trims pretty quick

Foam sheets that were the plug came unglued and separated. Compressed air from a blow gun helped pop the plug out of the tank.

                 Left weighted two days, peeled tape after a few hours.                         Bonded with West 105/206 epoxy and 405 filler.

             Filled the score with West 105/206 and 405 filler

    Hot wire slides better on smooth surface, wrapping template edge with aluminum cut from house siding.

        Slope 1-3/4" front to outlet and 1-1/4" sides to outlet

                             Core and support layout. Core scored halfway through.

Sides covered with packing tape, top 4 mil polyurethane film. Heating the poly took the wrinkles out after it cooled. Heating to get it to shrink and take care of wrinkles was a total guess method but it worked.

              Ready to go.....

GMC body leak test

I've seen others do a leak test by pressurizing the interior body and then using soap spray to find leaks. We have a windshield leak that happens when driving in rain. Hopefully now that I think I found it and sealed it it won't leak at least there.

Brass thread insets in FRP tank flanges

 1/4-20 inserts for the valve flange, 8-32 for the sender flange. Sandblasted the inserts to get them real clean.

 West Epoxy instructions say bowl wax can be used for non stick coating on threaded fasteners. Harvey no-seep wax ring was only $1.48.

 Hotwire cutter for foam. 24 gage wire seems to run best at 19 volts at 40 inches.
